In this new video series, I'm taking a different approach to reviewing newly released recordings. I won't just be sharing my thoughts on the music; I'll also delve into the lives of the composers and performers and give you a taste of the music with interesting excerpts.
Classical music is a fascinating world, and I want to make it more accessible. Whether you're a musician or just someone who loves music, I'll guide you on how to listen to classical music and help you understand what's happening in the music.
I hope you'll join me on this musical journey. 🎶
In this first video, I review the recording of Keith Jarrett playing the Württemberg Sonatas by Carl Philippe Emanuel Bach.
Enjoy!
What a nice initiative, Benedek. Great idea. Feel free to not use the format name: CD, but recording, release or title. The vast majority of people connect with recordings via the platforms and not the hardware. I'm a huge ECM fan and have known those folks for years.
As has been pointed out to me, there are indeed better sources of music than the ones I used for this video. And the cadenzas are not by C.P.E. Bach, although they exist for some sonatas. For example, a much better source is the scores published by Könemann Music Budapest in 1993, they worked together with Miklós Spányi who also recorded these sonatas. https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=31440699131&cm_sp=rec-_-pd_hw_i_1-_-bdp&ref_=pd_hw_i_1
This doesn't change the fact that I'm sad that Keith didn't improvise the cadenzas!

Spányi Miklós segédkezett a kiadásban, aki amúgy ezeket a szonátákat (is) lemezre vette. https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=31440699131&cm_sp=rec-_-pd_hw_i_1-_-bdp&ref_=pd_hw_i_1
Ez nem változtat azon a tényen, hogy sajnálom, hogy Keith nem a saját kadenciáit játssza.
Thank you for the lecture and sharing your knowledge with us! Look forward to learning more about music.
